A second turns into a minute which turns into a hour which turns into a day, which turns into a week, which turns into a month, which turns into half a year which turns into a year, which turns into half a decade, which turns into a decade, which eventually turns into an eternity.
One day you go to sleep and you just never wake up again. My grand uncle (not sure if this is even a term but yeah you get the gist), was given the blessing of fasting 30 days in Ramadan, he celebrated Eid with us on Tuesday and planned a BBQ for the Saturday after Eid. On the Saturday morning after Eid he thought he’ll rest and catch up on some sleep after doing a night shift. He never woke up. Rather than his BBQ, we were all attending his Janazah and prayer service the week after. (May Allah forgive his sins, have mercy on him, widen his grave and may Allah grant him Janatul-Firdaus – Ameen).
I say this all to say that time flies, faster than what we can all grasp and faster than we should all take granted for.
I saw a quote on Instagram the other day which said ‘2020 is in 6 month’s time, don’t let anyone waste your time’, and I was thinking Jheeze why is this person coming for everyone’s necks like this. But it is so true, and that ‘anyone’ includes us. We can be the biggest cockblock to ourselves than anyone can ever be and saying this I really am talking directly to myself.
So, I can come on here and give 101 legitimate excuses as to why I’ve been MIA on here, why I haven’t put as much effort nor enthusiasm into growing this platform I so passionately wanted to or I can pick up where I left of and get it cracking.
It is crucial to take a step back sometimes, a minute or two to recalibrate and recharge, to remind yourself why you’re doing what you do. And you don’t always have to have it together, you’re allowed to be a mess and to let the ball drop. And this too is okay.
But don’t get stuck in it. Stop procrastinating! Stop giving yourself all these excuses thinking you’ve got all the time in the world, because you don’t. One day you’ll go to sleep and you’ll just never wake up. This is not me being morbid, it is simply the cold hard truth and fact of it all.
So, this is a wake-up call, first and foremost to me and then to anyone else out there that needs it.
YOU DON’T HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD. STOP PROCRASTINATING. GET UP AND DO IT. BECAUSE ONE DAY YOU GO TO SLEEP AND YOU NEVER WAKE UP AGAIN!
